The Mega Dragon slot is an 8×7 Chinese themed grid slot by Red Tiger Gaming featuring cluster pays, wilds and three bonus features.
Red Tiger are jumping on the Grid Slot band wagon made popular by Play’n GO in their Gemix and Viking Runecraft slots in this Mega Dragon game.
Open up the game and you’re faced with an 8 reel, 7 row grid featuring low paying A – 10 symbols scrolls, golden coins and other Chinese symbols as the high paying ones.
It might look daunting at first for slot beginners, but once you get used to the number of symbols shown on the screen it can be fun to play.
That’s cause there are no paylines or betlines here, each win is defined by a cluster of five or more of the same symbols touching horizontally and vertically.
Which given that there are 56 symbols on screen helps create frequent wins even in a high volatility slot like this one.
A feature common in grid slots is that the reels don’t spin on each new bet. Instead the old symbols drop off and new symbols drop from above to fill the grid.
It allows quicker ‘spins’ of the reels and more bets in a shorter space of time.
Combine this with the cascading reels, where on a win the winning cluster of symbols explode and more drop from above to fill the space.
It helps create more consecutive wins, which is a good thing as the wins here aren’t very big often rewarding you with less than your total bet.
Which means you’re going to need those clusters along with the bonus features and dragon wilds to get any decent sums here.
There’s no free spins bonuses here, if you’re looking to play slots with free spins you’re better off reading our Dragon’s Fire slot review, a game also by Red Tiger.
Instead what you get here is the chance to unleash 3 different bonus features randomly when you find two or more dragon wilds adjacently on the grid.
They don’t show up that often but when they do can help get top up those over your bet wins. Just don’t expect huge numbers unless you have stacks of high paying symbols all over the screen or wilds for that matter.
It’s a good take on a Chinese themed slot machine, it’s got the generic symbols and overall look and feel that you would expect from such a casino slot.
So why only a mid range review score? The downside is that unless you get a huge cascade of consecutive wild wins on the same spin unleashing lots of different dragons then you won’t stand to win much here.
Even though the max win apparently is 3,888x your bet on a single spin, even after having 15 bonus features strike on the same spin it only rewarded us with 50x our bet and even then it got boring after a while seeing all the small less than our bet wins tally up.
Unfortunately the thrills aren’t huge, which is a shame as this real money game even though you can bet from as little as 0.10 per spin will probably get lost in the thousands others that we have to choose from as slots players.
If you’re after a fast-paced game with quick wins that don’t reward much then this is for you otherwise we’d recommend you play on some of the other Red Tiger slots in our list like Devil’s Number and Laser Fruit which provide bigger thrills.Play Now at Vera and John »
