Red Tiger Gaming have gone back to the 80’s in this retro-music themed video slot they are calling The Equalizer slot.
But perhaps given it’s features they should have called it The Expander, cause not only do the reels expand to create more paylines but the wilds can also expand to create more winning combinations.
The Equalizer slot machine mixes two slot features that we’ve seen more frequently in slots online in recent months and does it well.
The only problem is that they don’t always create the biggest of wins.
One of the features that you’ll find during the base game and free spins is the Expanding Wild Feature.
Here when a W wild symbol appears on a reel it can expand by 1 or more reels upwards to help create some more wins.
Being a high volatility slot machine though the it feels like the big wins of over 100x, 200x, 300x your bet are out of reach.
As the wins you can expect in the base game are more around 2 or 3 times up to around 20x as the biggest.
Randomly on any spin the 5×4 reel layout has the chance to expand horizontally or vertically by one or more reels up to a maximum 7 reel, 6 row layout for that spin.
This gives you from 15 to 30 and up to a possible 60 pay lines to play with for as little as 0.10 per spin.
Combine the expanding slot reels and the expanding wilds features and you’d expect the wins to increase from your standard slot spins, but in our experience it didn’t quite happen.
Leaving us a little less pumped up than the slots backing track would like you to be.
So can The Equalizer redeem some review points from its free spins bonus?
The free spins bonus games is where The Equalizer slot should in theory pay out the big bucks.
Find three of the Free Spins symbols and you’ll trigger 10 free spins where not only do the wilds expand but so also do the reels like they do in the base game.
This time however, the wilds that expand will stay sticky for the remainder of your spins and so will the expanded reels.
This gives you the chance at the 10,000x your bet wins this game suggests you can win when you load it up on your phone or online.
This is helped by the ‘+ spin’ symbol which if you find adds an extra spin to your free spins, add the fact that the large speakers at the side of the reels can blast the wilds across by one reel and it all changes the possibility of a win.
We were expecting them to be bring some excitement to our gameplay and put a smile on our face with some over 100x your bet wins.
However, after triggering the free spins 3 times during writing this review the most we won was a dismal 17x our bet. Perhaps we were just unlucky, but given the thousands of other real money slots online that we have to choose from to play for real money it means we probably won’t be coming back to this Red Tiger game anytime soon.
A casino game that can let you win up to 10,000 times your bet in theory, but in reality the wins don’t hit anywhere near that.
Is it cause it’s a high volatility slot? Yes and no, there are many highly volatile games out there that still give us the feeling we can win huge by giving us some decent base game and bonus game wins along the way. Take the Dead or Alive 2 slot by NetEntertainment for one.
The Equalizer mobile slot on the other hand doesn’t do that.
The graphics and theme are well done and remind us of the retro Arcader video slot but without the music.
It’s good for a few rounds to try out some interesting features for a small bet of just 0.10 but there are other Red Tiger casino slots that are more worthy of your attention.
Take the Dragon’s Fire and Laser Fruit slot as an example.Play Now at Rolla »
